Selected WXDU Flow Sheets

In the interests of putting yet more useless data on the web, I've got my flow sheets from many of the shows I've done at WXDU. These are all dated, but there may be huge gaps in coverage. Since they're coded, to an extent, it's instructive to check out a few examples in order to be able to read them correctly. Below the links to the flowsheets is a short description on how to read them. Originally, there was a perl script I used to use to do most of the HTML noodling. Now I've got a php script that does it even better. This, of course, necessitated another perl script to pull the text out of the html files I'd created. This is totally out of control.

How to read the flow sheets

Here's a look at a basic entry in a flow sheet

CodeSongArtistAlbum
Take a Flying Leap The Rolling Doughnuts As If We Care

The above is just a song by a band from somewhere in the WXDU collection. The first colum is a special coding column, the second one is the song title, the third the artist, and fourth column is the album.

CodeSongArtistAlbum
ITake a Flying Leap The Rolling DoughnutsAs If We Care
II Take a Flying LeapThe Rolling DoughnutsAs If We Care
GTake a Flying Leap The Rolling DoughnutsAs If We Care

The first song is from our level 1 playlist, the second song is from the level 2 playlist. We have to play six songs an hour from the playlists, and three of them have to be from the level 1 playlist. The remaining three can come from either playlist. The third song is from the "new but not playlisted" section. I may or may not mark these, depending on if I remember or not. Why are the I and II there if they're already marked with colors? Because I have to print them out and turn them in.

The v in the code column signifies a vinyl selection; one of the playlist selections per show must be vinyl. The nr means that it's a "non-rock" selection: world music, country, or urban. Jazz and RPM are still classified as "rock". Genrefication sucks.

For what it's worth, I didn't make up the band name "The Rolling Doughnuts". It was stolen from a comic I saw in a zine somtime around 1992. The comic was making fun of college radio DJ's, and featured a character called "Joe College Radio". So it's all connected. If anyone knows which comic I'm talking about, I'd be glad to give it proper credit, but I've forgotten the pertinent details myself.
